Fire Extinguishers - Water and Water Additive

Water and water additive dispensing fire extinguishers for use on fires that are buring freely such as ordinary combustable fires involving solid materials.
  • Water and Water Additive Fire Extinguishers kitemarked to BS EN 3
  • Water fire extinguishers work by removing the heat from a fire
  • Water additive fire extinguishers perform better than standard water extinguishers providing superior fire fighting performance in smaller units
  • For use on:
    • Ordinary combustable fires: wood, paper, textiles, rubber, some plastics and other organic carbon based compounds
  • Ineffective against:
    • Electrical fires - short circuits, overloaded switchboards, faulty equipment and wiring (under no circumstances should a water extinguisher be used on an electrical fire as water can conduct electricity)
    • Flammable metals: e.g. aluminium or magnesium
    • Flammable liquids - petrol, oil and paints etc.
    • Flammable gases - LPG, propane and butane fires
    • Cooking oil fires: cooking oil, grease and fats
  • Care should be taken when using a dry powder extinguisher to not inhale any of the powder - they are tnot recommended for use in small spaces
